Celebrating AiLab's 7th Birthday

This month AiLab turned 7 years old! Since launching back in October 2017, AiLab has helped thousands of people and organisations around the globe learn about Artificial Intelligence through our AI workshops, masterclasses, research and advisory services. Helping individuals and organisations to understand what AI is, develop AI skills and capability, and build AI action plans and strategies.

We love what we do and we're extremely proud to have expanded AiLab into 3 countries over the 7 years with offices in Adelaide, South Australia, Auckland, New Zealand, and more recently Southampton in the UK. Co-founders Emma Berry & Dr. John Flackett launched AiLab at an event that we organised for South Australia’s Open State Festival in October 2017 called 'Future Jobs in a World of AI'. Our goal with AiLab has always been to help everyone learn about AI – to demystify and provide hype-free information, as well as furthering AI awareness about tools and techniques, rewards and risks.

We're proud that AiLab is built on decades of teaching AI, researching AI and building AI, providing us with a deep understanding and knowledge of the AI field that we can impart to our clients, but that also sets us apart from other competitors. We're qualified experts backed up by not only AI qualifications, but also extensive academic and industry experience in the AI field.

Through our workshops, advisory and talks, AiLab have worked with numerous government departments at federal, state and local levels, as well as large and small corporations and organisations, including some world-renowned technology companies, including Dell, Microsoft, MYOB, Google and NBN.

Our in-person and online workshops and masterclasses help prepare key stakeholders for provider engagement and assist organisations with developing the necessary knowledge to successfully identify AI projects, plan AI strategies and make informed business decisions. Our consultancy and advisory services provide on-going AI advice that enables organisations to make the best decisions and help guide staff through their AI journey, as well as providing support for future AI needs.

We collaborate with a range of brilliant international experts and organisations, as well as partner with academic institutions. AiLab are proud to have forged partnerships with industry and academia helping to promote AI awareness and AI research – developing great collaborations between industry and universities.

In 2020, we expanded AiLab into New Zealand, where we launched ‘AiLab at AUT’ (Auckland University of Technology) alongside Dr. John Flackett's AI Specialist in Residence and AI Ambassador roles. Promoting, educating and expanding ethical AI adoption, ‘AiLab at AUT’ offers access to AI support and works with the university and industry partners to coordinate and support AI opportunities with partners and the established local AI community – providing another conduit between academic research and commercial entities. Thanks so much to all the amazing AUT staff and students we have met and work with.

We've led a number of private and public research projects with industry, researchers and students to help further the field. Over the years, as well as our workshops and masterclasses, we've also been fortunate to have given hundreds of AI keynotes, seminars, talks and lectures at events and conferences around the globe, presenting on the incredible opportunities AI brings and the future impact of AI on society and the workforce. We also love speaking at community events where we can answer questions from the local communities and provide AI knowledge to all.

AiLab have also hosted, sponsored and organised many AI events, including founding and building the largest Artificial Intelligence networking community in South Australia through our Adelaide AI meetup, which was setup back in 2018. We're fortunate to have interviewed and brought together leading local and international industry speakers to showcase and promote the latest in AI. AiLab's journey has been fortunate to be featured in the media with articles about our launch, events, expansion and impact and we've taken part in many radio interviews and news articles. It's hard to encapsulate everything that has happened over the past 7 years. We send huge thanks and appreciation to our brilliant team of collaborative experts scattered around the world that have helped make AiLab what it is today.
